# Roaches Trip 2019

Our recent excursion to The Roaches was marketed to be the biggest and best trip of the year and boy did it deliver; the sun was shining (through dense fog), the rock was dry (it wasn’t) and the psyche – as always – was high.

Unfortunately, conditions weren’t good enough for the boulderers, so they were distributed amongst the Trad groups, as well as a small walking group. One lucky trad group, led by our lovely VP Dan, decided to make the most of the bad weather and start learning the basics of trad climbing. We also crossed paths with a fellow University Mountaineering club – they weren’t as strong as us ;)

The day was not without its fair share of drama, including a certain someone (me) backing off a sopping wet HVD and the other gear sec needing a semi-rescue on his S 4a proj due to an unlucky combination of rope drag and very wet grit.

Having made the wise decision to stop climbing early, we headed back to Brum with plenty of time to get ready for the **‘unofficial’** but obligatory post-Roaches Fab.
